Radical Propagations/ Propagaciones Radicales
The Propeller Gallery at the 18th Street Arts Center is pleased to present the exhibition Radical Propagations/ Propagaciones Radicales curated by artist and researcher Maru García, and featuring the work of Alberto Tlatoa, Lucia Monge, Rashonda, Rebecca Youssef, and Yrneh Gabon.
Just as a plant is said to propagate by being divided or making cuts and favoring the appearance of roots, this exhibition includes the work of artists whose practice focuses on splitting and sharing, on generating spaces for regeneration and resilience. Actions that seem minuscule, when propagated by these means, achieve a scope that goes beyond superficiality.

Dropped: Drop Cloths Reimagined
A collaboration between abstract artists, Rebecca Youssef and Crystal Michaelson, centered on zero waste principles. In this exhibit, these common art studio staples usually destined for a landfill, are transformed into art, thus proving that beautiful things can be created by working with the planet, not taking from it. On view at the Slipstream Gallery at the 18th St. Art Center airport campus, starting March 14th.
Opening reception is March 26th from 11 am-2 pm.

Recovery Justice: Being Well
Recovery Justice: Being Well, aims to highlight the recent circumstances that have evolved during the pandemic (racial justice demonstrations, as well as social discontent and general disconnection) into a series of self-organized artist projects that merges exterior and interior public spaces of this City of Santa Monica property. On view and open to the public at The 18th Street Arts Center’s Airport Campus, Monday - Friday, 10 am - 5 pm.
My installation, The Sowing Imperative, is a collection of works that contrasts devastating environmental changes to the growing cycle of an acorn into an oak tree.
